We recognise that the ongoing outbreak of Coronavirus is an extremely challenging, and uncertain time for all of our customers.
As described in our recent Coronavirus blog post we have taken steps to ensure that our customers can get in contact with our teams during all normal business operating hours. We have also taken numerous steps to ensure the health and wellbeing of our employees, taking into account government advice and guidelines.
We also know that our customers may have been adversely impacted by Coronavirus, so it is important you take a moment to read this blog.
What support is available if I have been impacted by Coronavirus?
Firstly, it is important to remember that you should keep up with payments on your buffa loan if you can afford to do so and should only request a payment holiday where absolutely necessary.
If you have been impacted by Coronavirus and cannot continue to make your scheduled buffa loan repayments, we are here to help.
If your loan is active and you are due to make a scheduled repayment, we can defer your payment by offering you a payment holiday (sometimes known as a ‘payment deferral’ or ‘payment freeze’). During this payment holiday there will be no interest accruing against your outstanding loan with us.
We also have some other options available to our customers:
- We’re here to discuss any changes in your circumstances and may be able to set-up a repayment plan if we think it’s suitable for you, or;
- If you are experiencing financial difficulties and believe you may benefit from speaking to someone offering free, independent debt advice, we’ve compiled a list of suitable agencies to help you.
Will taking a payment holiday affect my credit rating?
There will be no impact to your credit rating if we conclude that offering you a payment holiday is the best course of action for your particular circumstances.
If you are already overdue in making a repayment to us against your loan, your credit file will not be impacted any further as a result of taking a pre-approved payment holiday.
However, if you haven’t requested support or talked to us directly about taking a payment holiday, your credit file could be negatively impacted if you miss a scheduled buffa loan repayment – therefore we strongly encourage you to talk to us immediately if you’re facing financial difficulties and are struggling to meet your loan repayments.

What if I have already taken a payment holiday?
If you have already taken a payment holiday for your existing buffa loan, please get in touch as we may have other tailored support such as setting up a repayment plan. If you opt to take alternative forbearance options, such as a repayment plan, this will be reported accordingly with the credit reference agencies.
